I brought a few objects that may not be considered “art”, but they do belong in the Museum of Childhood Cartoon Memories. This is animation production art from the television program SpongeBob SquarePants. This is from the first season that aired in 2000 created by Stephen Hillenberg who was actually a Marine Biologist.
Eric showed us how the animation cell containing the figure on acetate slides over the animated background.
My favorite is actually this. This is from an episode called “Sleepy Time” in which SpongeBob enters other character’s dreams, and in this scene he’s entered into the dream of his pet snail, Gary. […] These are all hand painted by the way. […] In the foreground is a book titled “Of Snails and Men” by John Slimebeck.
